Almost Family takes a limited number of dogs to each show to ensure your dog is provided with as much personal attention as possible. You can be assured that we will never have more than three dogs per person with us on any given weekend. We never attend a show with less than one dedicated dog care professional, and at least one assistant. Your dogs well being and care are of the utmost importance to us.
Almost Family believes in building a bond between dog and handler. When a handler takes the time to really know, appreciate, and even love the dogs they work with... it shows. Your dog will be happier, more animated, livelier, and more attentive in the ring when being handled by someone they know and respect. They will have fun!
Almost Family puts a lot of emphasis on positive training methods. While preparing for a show, it is not unusual to find us - clicker in hand - enjoying playing the "clicker game". Building trust. It is incredibly important for the dogs we work with to know that we will always reward their efforts. Not always with food, but with love, attention, and lots of kisses and cuddles.
Almost Family will NEVER leave a dog overnight at a show site. The dogs in our care are not left on their own at the show building, or left alone in a vehicle while we enjoy room service. The dogs are always there with us, enjoying the comfy beds, warm showers, and fresh food. Shows can be stressful - with so much to see, smell, and experience. The dogs need as much of a chance to unwind as we do, if not more so.
Dogs are never left to languish in crates and x-pens when attending a show with Almost Family. We spend time outside and in our hotel room - exercising and playing. It's important that your dog have a chance to stretch their legs and just be a dog. Wearing your "game face" all weekend long would be exhausting.
The bond between handler and dog truly is the focus of Almost Family. Everything we do is done in an effort to build that loyalty and trust. Your dogs happiness and well being are the most important things to us... and that is why we're called "Almost Family". |
